2018-23 global hybrid fiber coaxial cable market compound annual growth of 8%

Share:
According to the international market research institute Markets and Markets to update the hybrid fiber coaxial report, the global hybrid fiber coaxial cable market is expected to reach US$9.6 billion in 2018, and is expected to increase to US$13.6 billion by 2023, with a compound annual growth rate of 8.02%. It has doubled the forecast data previously announced.

Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) uses fiber optic cable as the front end and feeder distribution system, and coaxial (copper) cable for client connection. HFC systems are used for video services, telephony, voice telephony, data and other interactive services.
The demand for high bandwidth is driving the need for HFC networks because it eliminates the limitations of a complete copper architecture, such as latency and data transmission at higher bandwidths. HFC networks use a combination of fiber optic and coaxial cable to connect multiple devices.

Throughout the forecast period, DOCSIS 3.1 is expected to occupy the largest share of the hybrid fiber coaxial market. DOCSIS 3.1 enables greater capacity and speed, supporting up to 50% data throughput on the same spectrum on existing HFC networks. Cable providers can deliver up to 10 Gbit/s downstream and up to 1 to 2 Gbit/s upstream.

To reduce network latency, DOCSIS 3.1 leverages Active Queue Management (AQM) to increase reliability and optimize network capacity. DOCSIS 3.1 increases capacity by allowing the use of a higher range of spectrum to increase capacity rather than adding more nodes to handle more locations.

The CMTS / CCAP components are expected to grow at the highest rate during the forecast period. CMTS / CCAP is usually found in the headends of multiple service operators (MSOs). These systems can exchange digital signals over a wired network of cable modems. They support services such as video streaming, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and high-speed Internet.

From a regional market perspective, North America is expected to account for the largest share of the market during the forecast period, mainly due to the upgrade of existing HFC networks using the latest DOCSIS 3.1 technology. Rapid technological advances, growing data traffic and cloud-based services are expected to put tremendous pressure on telecommunications companies across the region to deploy high-speed, reliable and powerful networks.

From the service provider's point of view, China Huawei, American Arris, Corning, Cisco, Comcast, Xunyuan, CommScope, Australia Telstra, UK Vodafone, Spain Telefonica, etc. will become the world's leading HFC network service providers.
